The Boston Red Sox added some additional depth at first base on Tuesday, agreeing to a minor-league deal with Adam Lind, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski confirmed to Evan Drellich NBC Boston.
Lind hit .303/.362/.513 with 14 home runs, 14 doubles, and 59 RBIs in 116 games with the Washington Nationals last season while appearing at first base and left field.
The 34-year-old has yet to appear in a major-league game this season. He agreed to a minors deal with the New York Yankees in March, but was released 12 days later. He re-signed with the Yankees in April, but the two sides parted ways once again May 25.
In 16 games at Triple-A this season, Lind has hit .241/.302/.414 with two home runs.
The Red Sox have been looking for some help at first base since designating Hanley Ramirez for assignment last week.
