The first-place Houston Astros will be without Brian McCann until at least next weekend, as the club is set to place the veteran catcher on the 10-day disabled list due to right knee soreness, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.

McCann has managed a career-worst .664 OPS with four home runs and three doubles through 37 games in 2018. The seven-time All-Star is 0-for-13 over his last four contests.

In McCann's absence, the Astros will likely hand full-time catching duties over to Max Stassi. The 27-year-old has shined in a semi-regular role this year, hitting .300/.371/.525 with four homers in 29 games.

Heading into Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees, the Astros own a one-game lead over the Seattle Mariners for the top spot in the American League West.
