The Minnesota Twins have acquired first baseman Chris Carter from the Los Angeles Angels. Carter will report to Triple-A Rochester.
Carter has not appeared in a major-league game in 2018 but has hit 13 home runs in 38 games with the Angels' Triple-A affiliate. He's also struck out in 29.2 percent of his plate appearances.
The 31-year-old Carter has long possessed prodigious power. For his career, he's hit 158 home runs in 750 games, including a career-high 41 in 2016 as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers. Consistent contact, however, has been an issue throughout his big-league tenure.
The Angels initially signed Carter to a minor-league deal in February after trading C.J. Cron to the Tampa Bay Rays.
There is no word yet as to what the Twins sent to the Angels in exchange for the slugger.
