The Washington Nationals have placed third baseman Anthony Rendon on the 10-day disabled list with a toe contusion, the team announced Sunday. The move is retroactive to April 19.
Rendon has missed seven straight games after he fouled a ball off his foot during the Nationals' game against the Colorado Rockies on April 13. X-rays came back negative and he had been listed as day-to-day ever since.
Since disabled list stints can only be backdated a maximum of three days, the Nationals will be without the star third baseman for at least another week.
The Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Austin L. Adams to replace Rendon on the roster. Wilmer Difo has handled the hot corner in Rendon's absence.
In 14 games this season, Rendon has hit .286/.355/.411 with one home run and four RBIs.
