The Boston Red Sox exploded Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Angels, led by a three-home run game by star outfielder Mookie Betts.
In fact, Betts' three-dinger game - the third of the 25-year-old's career - ties the franchise record held by Ted Williams for most by a Red Sox hitter.
Betts' trio of home runs all came against different Angels pitchers.
His first homer was a leadoff shot in a seven-pitch battle against right-hander Shohei Ohtani. While it was a solo homer early in the evening, it played an integral role in chasing the young phenom from the game:
In his third at-bat in the third inning, Betts provided the exclamation point on an inning during which Boston hit three home runs, following Jackie Bradley Jr. and Brock Holt. All came against Angels reliever Luke Bard:
Finally, Betts' last homer was the first offering he saw from Cam Bedrosian in the eighth inning:
