Jose Bautista is a man that knows what he wants.
Though the longtime Toronto Blue Jays outfielder has yet to find a new home, it hasn't been due to a lack of interest from MLB clubs. In fact, Bautista turned down offers this offseason because the teams didn't fit his criteria.
"All I can worry about is what I can control, which is to stay ready to go when that moment arrives," Bautista told Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. "Hopefully, a club with the desire to win a championship decides to bring me aboard."
The Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays were among the most prevalent suitors reportedly interested in signing Bautista this offseason. Still, it's reasonable to think a team atop the standings could entertain the idea of adding the veteran into the summer, especially if injuries were to arise.
Bautista is coming off a disastrous 2017 campaign with the Blue Jays in which he hit .203/.308/.366 with a 24.8 strikeout rate and 80 wRC+. The 37-year-old's track record, though, is undoubtedly impressive, as he was one of the most productive players in the majors from 2010-15.
