Yankees' Cashman not opposed to Russell Wilson appearing in spring game

The Mets might not be the only New York team to feature an NFL quarterback in their lineup this spring.

Russell Wilson is in Yankees camp and general manager Brian Cashman said he's open to having the Seattle Seahawks signal-caller appear in live game action if he gets the appropriate permission.

"I'm not opposed to any of that, personally," Cashman said Tuesday, according to Mike Mazzeo of the New York Daily News.

"(Seahawks head coach) Pete Carroll hasn't reached out to me just yet, but after he sees that I'm open to it, he might make a call. I respect the hell out of Pete Carroll, so I'd look forward to hearing from him," he added,

Cashman isn't the only one who is curious to see what the four-time Pro Bowler can do, as Wilson himself has said he's open to getting into the lineup.

"I'm ready to go up there if they want me to," Wilson said, according to Pete Caldera of USA TODAY Sports. "I'll be ready to swing … hack away and turn some double plays."

Despite the intrigue, it remains highly unlikely Wilson makes an appearance, even if it's for one at-bat. Still, he's made a strong impression in camp and even hit six home runs during batting practice Tuesday, out-homering Gary Sanchez.
