Mets trade Smoker to Pirates

The New York Mets traded left-handed reliever Josh Smoker to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday in exchange for minor-league reliever Daniel Zamora and cash considerations.

Smoker, who was designated for assignment last week, posted a 5.11 ERA, 1.70 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts in 56 1/3 innings in 2017.

Zamora, 24, split last season between Single- and Double-A. The left-hander posted a 1.76 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 63 strikeouts in 56 1/3 innings.
