Christian Yelich isn't getting out of Miami unless another club gives the Marlins' front office an offer it can't refuse.
Yelich's agent, Joe Longo, stated Tuesday that the 26-year-old outfielder's relationship with the team is "irretrievably broken" and that his client "needs to get on with his career." Yelich is upset with the team after the Marlins opted to trade away core pieces Marcell Ozuna, Dee Gordon, and Giancarlo Stanton earlier this winter, and does not want to endure a rebuild.
While Yelich may want out, the Marlins certainly have no desire to deal him and will only consider trading him if they receive star-level talent in return, according to Peter Gammons of MLB Network.
A number of teams have been in touch with the Marlins in recent weeks to check the asking price for Yelich, and Gammons reports that Miami told its division rivals in Atlanta that the team is looking for a multi-player package. The range was anywhere between three-to-five players, but the Braves must include Ronald Acuna. The 20-year-old is the Braves' top prospect, and is the No. 6 prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline. Atlanta, however, has no intentions of dealing Acuna.
