Report: MLB investigating D-Backs coach for wearing electronic watch
Arizona Diamondbacks coach Ariel Prieto is being investigated for wearing an electronic watch during Wednesday night's wild-card game victory over the Colorado Rockies, according to a report from Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
While the report revolves around the fact that Prieto was seen wearing what appears to be an electronic watch in the dugout, whether the watch was actually used remains the topic of contention.
A representative from the Diamondbacks told Sherman that the club is cooperating fully with the investigation.
The investigation comes less than a month after MLB resolved its probe of the Boston Red Sox for a sign-stealing controversy involving the use of an Apple Watch. The Red Sox were fined an undisclosed amount while commissioner Rob Manfred notified all 30 clubs "that future violations of this type will be subject to more serious sanctions."
The Diamondbacks prevailed over the division rival Rockies in the one-game playoff Wednesday by a score of 11-8.
