Granite hit a ball to the right side of the infield during the eighth inning of the AL wild-card game, and appeared to reach safely after New York Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle dropped the ball while covering first. However, Granite missed the base while running, and was alertly tagged out by Yankees second baseman Starlin Castro for the out.
