Watch: Giants' Span hits leadoff inside-the-park HR into 'Triples' Alley'

Andrew Villa / USA TODAY Sports

When you hit a ball deep into AT&T Park's "Triples' Alley" and you have the speed of Denard Span, an inside-the-park home run feels almost imminent.

Add the fact that Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Nick Williams booted the ball away from him, and Span's round-tripper became clinical.

A lot of teams favor speed and the ability to get on base from their leadoff hitter. Consider Span 2-for-2 on those after taking Jerad Eickhoff's first pitch of the night for a 377-foot ride that bought the speedy outfielder enough time to travel 360 feet around the bases.
