Earlier this month, New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson admitted he signed Tim Tebow to a minor-league deal last year partly due to his celebrity status.
He's quickly becoming a decent ballplayer, though.
Tebow's sensational start in High-A Florida State League continued Thursday at First Data Field, where the former Heisman Trophy winner spanked an opposite-field, walk-off homer to lift the St. Lucie Mets to a 5-4 victory in the second game of their doubleheader against Daytona.
The blast, his third with St. Lucie, extended Tebow's hitting streak to 11 games, and improved his batting average to .327 through his first 16 contests since being promoted from Low-A Columbia.
