Pazos is expected to have a spot in the bullpen on the Mariners' Opening Day roster.
Analysis:
The Mariners made a flurry of roster moves Friday to get down to 25 players, and with relievers such as Steve Cishek (hip) and Shae Simmons (elbow) sidelined, Pazos was able to land a roster spot. Pazos has strong swing-and-miss stuff, fanning 12 batters in 10.1 innings this spring. He did show some vulnerability to the long ball, however, as he also served up two home runs in that same stretch. Look for Pazos to slot into a middle relief role once the season begins.
