ByungHo Park's torrid spring-training performance wasn't enough to earn him a spot on the Minnesota Twins' Opening Day roster.
Park was reassigned to minor-league camp on Thursday, despite leading the team in home runs, RBIs, and OPS.
"It's a bitter news but I'm not disappointed, I know what I do here. My goal is the same," Park said, according to La Velle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune.
The 30-year-old struggled in his first year in the majors in 2016 but was very impressive in Twins camp, hitting .353/.414/.745 with six home runs, two doubles, and 13 RBIs while striking out 15 times in 19 games.
Park's struggles last season pushed him off the 40-man roster, and the Twins would have had to make room if they wanted to have him back in the majors.
