Mariners' Walker, Cishek undergo surgery

Two prominent members of the Seattle Mariners' pitching staff recently underwent offseason surgery, the team announced Monday.
Right-handed starter Taijuan Walker had an arthroscopic procedure done Monday to remove bone fragments from his right ankle and will begin his rehab immediately. It's expected that he'll be fully healthy for the start of spring training.
Right-hander Steve Cishek underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his left hip and is not expected to resume baseball activities for the next four-to-six months, which could cut into his availability for the start of spring training.
Walker went 8-11 with a 4.22 ERA in 134 1/3 innings this season, striking out 119. The 24-year-old missed time in July with foot issues and was expected to undergo surgery.
Cishek posted a 2.81 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 62 relief appearances while also converting 25 saves. He was placed on the disabled list in August with a hip labrum tear, but did return to pitch the final six weeks of the season.
