The New York Mets' postseason ambitions didn't matter when they took the field Monday night at Marlins Park. All they wanted to do was offer their grieving division rivals as much support as they could.

As part of a moving, pregame tribute to late right-hander Jose Fernandez, who died Sunday in a boating accident, the Mets embraced the Marlins on the field, offering hugs and love to a team ravaged by the loss of their exuberant and joyful 24-year-old ace.
