Francisco Mejia continues to move closer to making history.
The Cleveland Indians prospect extended his hitting streak to 49 games on Friday, tying the sixth-longest streak in professional baseball history.

The 20-year-old's impressive streak started May 27, and since then he's slashed .389/.415/.601 with eight home runs for Single-A Lynchburg.

Mejias, who is quickly becoming a household name to many baseball fans, was almost sent packing at this year's trade deadline when the Indians were pursuing catcher Jonathan Lucroy.
He'll attempt to stretch the streak to 50 games on Saturday.
