Red Sox's Koji Uehara: Receives PRP injection, timetable uncertain
Uehara (pectoral) received a platelet-rich plasma injection Friday and will be shut down from throwing for the time being, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis:
The veteran reliever told reporters Thursday that his pectoral injury would likely keep him out for one month, but it's unclear how Friday's procedure affects that timeline. Regardless, Boston is hurting in the bullpen even with recent additions given that Uehara and closer Craig Kimbrel are on the shelf. Brad Ziegler will likely be called upon to close out games while those two are sidelined.
