Manager Ned Yost said Sunday that Medlen (shoulder) would require another rehab start in the minors before returning from the DL, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis:Medlen pitched well in his first rehab start at Triple-A Omaha on Saturday, giving up an unearned run on two hits and a walk over 4.2 innings while striking out five batters. The 30-year-old was capped at 69 pitches in the outing, so the Royals likely want to see him log closer to 100 pitches in a game before they activate him from the DL. Medlen should have a spot waiting for him at the back end of the Royals' rotation when he's ultimately activated, likely in the first week of July.
