With several teams reportedly coveting his services, Drew Pomeranz is busy showcasing more than just his pitching skills.

In the midst of a breakout campaign on the mound, the San Diego Padres lefty took his success to the plate Saturday afternoon when the 6-foot-6 pitcher smacked an opposite-field blast off Reds starter Brandon Finnegan during the fifth inning to give the Padres a 2-0 lead.

Two innings after the blast - his first homer or extra-base hit since his 2012 rookie season in Colorado - Pomeranz added some insurance with an RBI single. The Padres' southpaw stayed hot on the mound, too, tossing seven scoreless innings to lower his career-best ERA as a starter to 2.76.

Pomeranz's big season has reportedly piqued the interest of Miami and Baltimore, two clubs looking to add a starting pitcher for the stretch run.
