Reed will be used as the Mets' closer Saturday if necessary, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis:
Regular closer Jeurys Familia pitched in each of the last three days. Reed should be a capable replacement as, before giving up an earned run in Friday's game, he had not allowed one in 16 straight appearances. The 27-year-old should revert back to his setup man role once Familia gets a day or two of rest.
