Watch: Utley breaks Mets' hearts again
The heartbreak only lasted for a half inning, but did those 15 minutes ever hurt.
Dodgers veteran Chase Utley, Public Enemy No. 1 in Queens after breaking Ruben Tejada's leg with a violent takeout slide during last year's playoffs, drove a stake through the collective heart of Mets fans again Friday when his bases-clearing double cashed three runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game 5-5.
Making his first appearance at Citi Field since the infamous slide, Utley was showered with boos during pregame introductions and his first at-bat, where he walked and carefully slide into an out moments later at second base.
Alas, Utley's villainous heroics were nothing more than a fleeting moment, thanks to Curtis Granderson's dramatic walk-off home run in the bottom half of the ninth. The Mets won 6-5.
