Target Field goes purple to honor hometown hero Prince
The Jumbotron at Target Field read "Goodnight sweet Prince" and the stadium turned purple as the Minnesota Twins paid tribute to pop legend Prince.

The singer who wrote "Purple Rain" died Thursday at the age of 57. The Twins are in Milwaukee, but that didn't stop the club from honoring the local icon at home.
Although Minnesota is making him the focal point of the day, this isn't the first, or last time, the team feels the effects of the Minneapolis-native. After most home runs at Target Field, Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" echoes throughout the stadium, a tradition that has carried on since the team moved out of the Metrodome in 2010.
"When we moved to Target Field, it was a way of re-branding", Twins senior director of communications Dustin Morse told Mike Oz of Yahoo Sports. "How do we incorporate Prince? What about if we did this after we hit a home run?"
The Twins don't return home until April 25, where they begin a six-game home stretch.
"I think most of the people in Twins territory appreciate Prince," Morse added. "So it just made sense."
