 St. Louis and Milwaukee will play for the first time this season after the Cardinals edged the 2019 head-to-head series 10-9. This will be the ninth 5+ game series of the 2020 season, and the third for the Cardinals, after not playing for 16 straight days from July 30-August 14 because of a Covid-19 outbreak.

 St. Louis enters the series at 20-20, after going 6-6 in their last 12 games. The Cardinals have never been more than two games over or under .500 all season.

 Six runs has been the magic number for Milwaukee this season. The Brewers are 14-1 when they score six or more this season, including 6-0 at home, while they're 6-23 in games where they're held to five runs or fewer.

 Matt Carpenter has three multi-hit games in his last four played, after having just two in his first 32 games this season. His .216 average for the year is the lowest of his career, not counting his 15 at-bat season in 2011.

The St. Louis Cardinals will visit the Milwaukee Brewers for a doubleheader Monday evening as both teams pursue a spot in the postseason.
St. Louis (20-20) is coming off a 2-1 series loss against the Cincinnati Reds as it prepares for a 13-game road trip. The Cardinals are in second place in the National League Central, four games behind the division-leading Chicago Cubs and two games ahead of the Brewers.
