 Over the 30 seasons from 1990 through 2019, there were only three in which both of MLB's Texas-based teams finished with a losing record: 2000--Hou 72--90, Tex 71--91; 2007--Hou 73--89, Tex 75--87; 2014--Hou 70--92, Tex 67--95.

 Houston scored only 25 runs in its last 10 games. Prior to their current slump, the Astros hadn't scored as few as 25 runs over 10 games in a single season since the summer of 2016 (23 runs, July 31--Aug. 9).

 The Rangers won seven of eight games from August 7-15. Excluding that stretch, Texas hasn't won consecutive games this season and enters tonight's game on a three-game losing streak.

 Lance Lynn is tied for fourth in the AL in wins since joining the Rangers to start the 2018 season. The top five: Gerrit Cole 27--8, Shane Bieber 23--9, Marco Gonzales 23--15, Lynn 22--13, Justin Verlander 22--6.  Texas has a .410 winning percentage for all other pitchers during that time (75--108).

 Kyle Tucker is tied for fifth in the AL with 42 RBI in 54 games this season. Over his first two seasons in the majors, Tucker drove in 15 runs in 50 games.

 Rougned Odor has a .205 on-base percentage in 2020. Only three players in Rangers/Senators history finished a season with a lower OBP (minimum 100 PA): pitcher Claude Osteen, .188 (1964); Vic Harris, .192 (1972); and Ned Yost, .201 (1984).

Even though injuries have undermined their results, the Houston Astros have by every measure failed to meet the lofty expectations that accompanied the opening of this compressed season.
Yet, despite a 6-1 loss to the host Texas Rangers on Saturday in Arlington, Texas, that dropped them a game below .500 prior to the regular-season finale on Sunday, the Astros (29-30) deemed their fourth consecutive postseason berth and fifth in six seasons worthy of positive reflection.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)  The Houston Astros are going into the playoffs with a losing record, a year after having the most wins in the major leagues.
And with a different manager after the sign-stealing scandal last offseason that tarnished their 2017 World Series title.
