 The Los Angeles teams enter a three-game series after the Dodgers swept their previous series, winning the three games by an average of 3.0 runs per game. Entering this season, the Angels had won four straight against the Dodgers and had won 11 of the previous 16 meetings.

 The Dodgers took two of three from the Athletics earlier this week and are 7-2 in their last nine games. The Dodgers are the only team in the majors to not have a losing streak of at least three games this season.

Suddenly hot Angels begin final series, face Dodgers

LOS ANGELES (AP)  Justin Turner homered twice and AJ Pollock, Will Smith and Edwin Rios also went deep as the Los Angeles Dodgers rallied to beat the Angels 9-5 on Friday to open the first-ever season-closing Freeway Series.
The loss mathematically eliminated the Angels from postseason contention in Joe Maddon's first season as manager, and gave the final AL playoff spot to the Houston Astros.
