 The Twins are an MLB-best 23-5 at home in 2020 and have won 11 consecutive series of at least two games at Target Field dating back to last season. No team has won 12 straight series of two games or more in its home park since the Athletics did so from May 16-August 11, 2005.

 With two wins in this series, the Reds can earn their first winning season since 2013 despite ranking last in the majors with a .211 batting average. The 1968 Yankees currently own the lowest batting average in MLB history by a team that finished a season above .500 when they hit .214 while going 83-79.

 The Twins are 12-5 (.706) against the NL Central in 2020, trailing only the Dodgers (13-4, .765) for the best winning percentage in interleague play this season. Minnesota has won or tied all seven series against NL teams this season, one away from matching a franchise record for consecutive interleague series won or tied of at least two games (eight, June 13, 2008-June 18, 2009).

 Jesse Winker is 4-for-42 (.095) in September after batting .369 with 10 homers and an MLB-leading 1.267 OPS in August (min. 50 PA). Winker's .274 decline in batting average from August to September is the largest of any player this season with at least 50 plate appearances in both months.

 Eddie Rosario enters the series on a seven-game hitting streak at home and is 11-of-27 (.407) with three homers and 10 RBIs during the run. Rosario hit his 13th homer of the season in Wednesday's win over the Tigers, giving the Twins an MLB-leading four players with 13 or more in 2020.

 Luis Castillo, slated to start Saturday, is 4-0 with a 1.26 ERA in four starts this month and can become only the second Cincinnati pitcher in the last 10 years to win five straight starts in a season. Johnny Cueto accomplished the feat in 2012 and again in 2014.

Right-handers Tyler Mahle and Jose Berrios take the mound Friday night in Minneapolis as the Cincinnati Reds and Minnesota Twins open their three-game series that will finish off the regular season.
Ironically, both pitchers have just one career start against their opponent and that came against each other on April 29, 2018, at Target Field. Mahle and the Reds coming away with an 8-2 victory.
