 The Twins took two of three games at Wrigley Field over the weekend, holding the Cubs to two total runs in the series. Minnesota's pitchers have allowed 57 home runs this season, tied with Oakland for the fewest in baseball.

 The Tigers dropped three of four games at home to Cleveland over the weekend, scoring a total of 12 runs. Through Sept. 1, Tigers hitters were batting .255 with a .760 OPS, 12th best in baseball. Since Sept. 2, however, Detroit is batting .220 with an MLB-worst .607 OPS.

 Nelson Cruz is day-to-day with knee soreness entering the series. The Twins are 24-12 this season when Cruz gets at least one hit and are 9-10 when he goes hitless or doesn't play.

With a second consecutive postseason berth already locked up, the Minnesota Twins begin their final homestand of the season on Tuesday night against the Detroit Tigers focused on trying to secure home-field advantage for next week's best-of-three wild-card series.
Minnesota (33-22) currently holds the No. 4 seed in the American League, 1 1/2 games ahead of the No. 5 seed New York Yankees (31-23). And it's fair to say the Twins want every advantage possible heading into the postseason, especially if they play the hard-hitting Yankees.

Home-field edge in focus as Twins face Tigers

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)  As a gift from third baseman Josh Donaldson, each of the Minnesota Twins now have dark blue jersey-style bathrobes with their name across the back.
Nelson Cruz even started draping his over the shoulders of each teammate who hit a homer. With the division race as tight as ever and a first-round home series on the line, the Twins couldn't be more relaxed in their defense of the AL Central title.
