 These clubs meet for the first time since 2018, when the Cubs swept a three-game set at Wrigley Field. Chicago scored a total of 35 runs in that series, its most ever in a three-game series against an interleague opponent.

 The Cubs took both games against the Indians Tuesday and Wednesday, lifting them to a season-high 10 games over .500. Chicago has won seven of its last nine games, led by a pitching staff that has a 1.88 ERA over that span.

 The Twins dropped three of four at Guaranteed Rate Field against the White Sox, falling to 10-16 (.385) on the road. With an MLB-best 21-5 (.808) record at home, Minnesota has baseball's second-largest home-over road win percentage difference at +.423 (Hou, +.440).

 Anthony Rizzo is hitless this season in 16 plate appearances with two outs and a runner in scoring position. Over the previous five seasons, Rizzo had 108 RBI in those situations with a .443 on-base percentage.

 Byron Buxton has hit seven home runs in nine games since Sept. 7, tied for the most in the majors (Luke Voit, NYY). Buxton had previously never hit more than five home runs in any nine-game span in his career.

 The Twins have the third-best interleague record in baseball this season at 10-4 (.714), while the Cubs' 9-5 (.643) interleague record puts them fourth (LAD, 11-3, .786; SDP, 11-4, .733).

Alec Mills will make his first start since throwing a no-hitter when the Chicago Cubs host the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night.
Mills, 28, made history when he put zeroes on the scoreboard last Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers. He became the 16th pitcher in Cubs history to throw a no-hitter and the first since Jake Arrieta in 2016.

CHICAGO (AP)  Eddie Rosario, Miguel Sano and Josh Donaldson homered as the Minnesota Twins clinched a second straight postseason berth with an 8-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night.
The Twins are guaranteed at least a wild-card berth. They trail the Chicago White Sox by three games in the AL Central with six games to play. The White Sox have eight games remaining.
