 Following a seven-game losing streak to start September, Kansas City has won seven of its last eight, including a 2-game split against the Tigers on Wednesday and Thursday. The Royals were shutout, 6-0, in the first game, but followed with a shutout of their own in the second (4-0).

 The Brewers won their five-game series against the Cardinals, 3-2, after shutting them out in the final game (6-0). Milwaukee has three shutouts since September 9 after having just two this season prior. During that span, the only other team with 3+ shutouts is Kansas City.

MILWAUKEE (AP)  Corbin Burnes threw six solid innings of four-hit ball, Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer in Milwaukee's four-run eighth inning and the Brewers beat the Kansas City Royals 5-0 Saturday night.
With the win, Milwaukee moved into a tie with the Cincinnati Reds, one game behind second-place St. Louis in the NL Central. The top two teams in each division qualify for the postseason.
