 The Blue Jays swept a doubleheader against Philadelphia on August 20, winning both games by a run. Toronto has won nine of their last 12 meetings with the Phillies since 2016, averaging 5.8 runs per game in those contests.

 The Phillies have dropped five of their last six, including losing a midweek series to the Mets in New York to drop to 24-25. This is the first time Philadelphia has been under .500 since being 14-15 after a loss to Atlanta on August 30.

PHILADELPHIA (AP)  Vince Velasquez pitched six strong innings, Andrew McCutchen hit the go-ahead single in the fifth inning and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the slumping Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 on Saturday night.
The Phillies helped their playoff chances once again and will look to sweep the four-game series on Sunday. Philadelphia entered the day in the seventh spot in the National League.
