 Following a seven-game losing streak to start September, Kansas City has won seven of its last eight, including a 2-game split against the Tigers on Wednesday and Thursday. The Royals were shutout, 6-0, in the first game, but followed with a shutout of their own in the second (4-0).

 The Brewers won their five-game series against the Cardinals, 3-2, after shutting them out in the final game (6-0). Milwaukee has three shutouts since September 9 after having just two this season prior. During that span, the only other team with 3+ shutouts is Kansas City.

Reaching the postseason for the third straight season is on the minds of the Milwaukee Brewers as they open a three-game series against the visiting Kansas City Royals on Friday.
The Brewers (23-26) are part of a logjam of teams competing for the lower end of the National League's eight playoff spots and need to win as many of their final 11 games as possible.

MILWAUKEE (AP)  Jacob Nottingham hit a grand slam and Orlando Arcia added a three-run shot as the Milwaukee Brewers rallied from an early four-run deficit and beat the Kansas City Royals 9-5 on Friday night.
Nottingham's two-out blast to left  off Danny Duffy (3-4) capped a six-run rally in the fourth inning that put the Brewers ahead for good. The comeback had begun when Christian Yelich led off the fourth with his 150th career homer.
