 The Braves and Orioles are squaring off for the first time in over two years, since Baltimore took two of three from the Braves in Atlanta in the 2018 season. The Braves have lost their last five games at Camden Yards, last winning on June 12, 2009.

 Atlanta has won four of its last five games, scoring at least seven times in all but one of those games. They've put up seven or more runs 19 times this season, one more than the White Sox for most in baseball.

 The Orioles have lost five straight games, including being swept in a four-game series at Yankee Stadium over the weekend. Baltimore scored just three runs in those four games, the fewest they've managed in a four-game span for over two years (3 runs from May 28 to June 1, 2018).

 Adam Duvall and Marcell Ozuna are tied for third in the National League with 14 home runs apiece. Duvall's nine home runs in September are three more than any other MLB player; the last Brave to reach double-digit homers in September was Chipper Jones in 1999 (10).

 Touki Toussaint's 7.89 ERA (19/21.2) is the fourth highest among NL pitchers with at least 20 innings pitched this year. He's allowed a .184 batting average with the bases empty, but .324 with runners on.

 Since joining the Orioles from Washington prior to last season, Pedro Severino is hitting .373 versus National League teams and .236 versus AL opponents. His .373 interleague batting average is the best in the majors over that span (minimum 75 PA).

The Atlanta Braves had expected to have Cole Hamels available for 162 games when they signed him to a one-year $18 million contract. Now the club is happy the veteran left-hander will finally be available, even if it is Game 50 of a 60-game season.
Hamels will make his season debut on Wednesday when the visiting Braves play the finale of a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles. Left-hander Keegan Akin (0-1, 4.61 ERA) will opposed the 36-year-old Hamels.

BALTIMORE (AP)  Cole Hamels could have easily dismissed the results, attributing the lackluster numbers in his Atlanta Braves debut to rustiness after an unaccustomed layoff.
Instead, the 36-year-old deemed his performance to be well below his own high expectations.
