 The Yankees have won their last five games, immediately following a five-game losing streak. Last month they lost seven straight on the heels of a six-game winning streak.  Prior to that, they won seven in a row (July 26 to Aug. 3).  Those five streaks account for 64% of the Yankees' games this season (30 of 47).

 Toronto's bullpen has been credited with the decision in a major-league-high 33 of the team's 46 games this season (18--15). The Blue Jays have played a major-league-high 22 one-run games, and won a major-league-high 13 of them.

 Deivi Garcia has walked only two batters in three appearances (all starts).  During the expansion era (since 1961), only two other Yankees pitchers walked fewer than three batters in their first three major-league starts: Fritz Peterson in 1966 (1 BB) and Masahiro Tanaka in 2014 (2 BB).

 Taijuan Walker has started eight games this season and he didn't allow an earned run in half of them. Only three other pitchers started at least four games this season in which they pitched three or more innings—no openers allowed—and allowed no earned runs: Shane Bieber (5), Brad Keller (4), and Kwang Hyun Kim (4), who hasn't allowed an ER in any of his last four starts.

 DJ LeMahieu is batting .350 after posting a .327 mark in 2019, his first season with the Yankees.  The only player to bat .325 or higher in each of his first two seasons with the Yankees—with a minimum of 3.1 PA per team game in both years—was Babe Ruth: .376 in 1920, .378 in 1921.

 Randal Grichuk led the majors with 13 home runs against the Yankees over the previous two seasons (2018-19). His total of eight HR against the Yankees in 2019 was one short of the highest single-season total by a Blue Jays player. Jose Cruz Jr. hit nine homers for Toronto against the Yankees in 2001.

Surging Yankees ready to battle Blue Jays

NEW YORK (AP)  The Yankees have transformed back into Bronx Bombers after a three-week stretch in which they nearly bombed out of postseason contention.
DJ LeMahieu and Luke Voit and became the first players at the top of New York's batting order to have five RBIs the same game, and New York rocketed past the Toronto Blue Jays into second place in the AL East with a 20-6 blowout Tuesday night that extended its winning streak to six.
