 The Mets beat the Orioles, 7-6, on Wednesday to split a two-game set in Queens. They allowed 14 hits in the win, the same number they had allowed to Baltimore the day before -- that game was an 11-2 loss.

 Jeff McNeil homered for the fourth straight game (after failing to hit one in his first 33 games). Dominic Smith had a four-game HR streak from August 12-15 -- it's the first time ever the Mets have had two players with such streaks in a season. Mike Piazza had two four-game HR streaks in the 1999 season.

 Jacob deGrom has allowed two or fewer earned runs in all eight of his starts this season, the longest streak ever by a Met to start a season, surpassing Nolan Ryan (1971) and Johan Santana (2009) who both had seven such starts.

 This will be the frst meeting between these teams this season. They played four games in 2018, splitting each two-game set in New York and Toronto. The Mets hold a 19-10 advantage in the all-time series.

 The Blue Jays were unable to complete a three-game sweep of the Yankees on Wednesday, dropping the series finale 7-2. Toronto homered for the ninth consecutive game, their longest streak of the season. They've only reached double-digits twice in the last five seasons (2019 and 2018).

 Chase Anderson allowed six runs (all earned) and took a no-decision against the Red Sox on Saturday. Anderson has not recorded a decision in any of his six starts this year, the longest streak ever by a Blue Jay to start a season, and tied for the longest at any point in the season (Todd Redmond in 2013, Erik Hanson from 1996-1998).

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)  Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a home run completely out of Sahlen Field and Hyun Jin Ryu made the early lead stand up, winning his fourth straight decision as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the New York Mets 7-3 Sunday.
Santiago Espinal hit a three-run double in a five-run sixth inning as the Blue Jays remained a half-game ahead of the New York Yankees for second place in the AL East. Toronto is 3 1/2 games behind Tampa Bay for the division lead.
