 The Rays are 5-1 against Boston this year, including a four-game sweep the last time they met (August 10-13 in Fenway Park) in which they scored 8+ runs in each game (42 total). Tampa Bay's longest win streak all-time against the Red Sox is six games, done in both 2011 and 2019.

 Tampa Bay lost both games of a two-game set with the Nationals earlier this week, its first time losing back-to-back games since a five-game losing streak ending on August 2.

 Boston has an MLB-high 6.17 ERA, which would be the highest by any team since the Tigers posted a 6.38 ERA in 1999. Since ERA became an official stat in 1913, Boston has ranked last in the majors in ERA three times (1932, 1960 and 1965), while never finishing with an ERA higher than 5.02 (1932).

Despite his team being caught in its second-worst losing streak Thursday night, Tampa Bay Rays slugger Brandon Lowe saw no point in panicking as the shortened season plays out through its final weeks of games.
Following the club's 4-3 loss to Boston -- a loss that was rare because it was to the Red Sox and by one run -- Lowe stated that the American League East-leading Rays had played enough good baseball to hold their spot atop the standings and he believed they could start winning again soon.

Rays look to start new win streak against Red Sox

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP)  Brandon Lowe and Austin Meadows homered and the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays beat the last-place Boston Red Sox 5-4 on Saturday night.
Lowe hit a solo shot, his 12th of the season, off Marcus Walden (0-2) in the seventh for a 5-4 lead.
