 The Red Sox and Phillies split two games in Boston earlier this season, with the Sox scoring six in each game while the Phillies scored 13 in the first and three in the second. Boston is 9-5 over its last six series at Philadelphia since 2012, having split or won each of those six series (3-0-3).

 J.T. Realmuto hit his team-leading 10th home run on Monday, giving him at least 10 home runs in each of his six full seasons in MLB. Realmuto reached 10 home runs in 35 games played this season, 21 games fewer than his fastest previous season to double-digit homers (56 in 2018 with Miami).

 Xander Bogaerts has homered in back-to-back games for the third time this season, claiming the team's  RBI lead (26) and home-run lead (10) in the process. The only Red Sox shortstop in the past 100 seasons to lead the team in RBI and home runs was Vern Stephens in 1948 (based on primary position in season).

 Zach Eflin will start game one of the doubleheader for the Phillies. Eflin had his worst outing of the season when these teams met on August 18, allowing four earned runs over 4.0 innings. In his three starts since, Eflin is 2-0 with a 3.93 ERA.

PHILADELPHIA (AP)  Bobby Dalbec needed some loaner lumber to go on a Red Sox rookie record home run streak.
Dalbec homered for his fourth straight game, his two-run shot in the sixth inning enough to help the Boston Red Sox beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 on Tuesday night and split a doubleheader.
