The Braves took two of three from the Marlins in Miami in the first series of the season from August 14-16, and have won 15 of the last 17 matchups in Atlanta. The Braves, who also won 15 of 17 over the Marlins at home between 2004-06, haven't recorded 16 wins in an 18-game home stretch against a team since 1997-2000 against the Mets.

Among batting qualifiers, Dansby Swanson is hitting an MLB-best .394 (39-for-99) in his first plate appearance against a pitcher in a game. His second time facing a pitcher in a game, his average drops to .150 (6-for-40).

Marcell Ozuna has a slash line of .485/.553/1.061 in his last eight games, with five home runs, four doubles and 15 RBI. He joins Chipper Jones from April 13-20, 1998, and Dale Murphy from April 11-19, 1985, as the only Braves to collect at least five homers, four doubles and 15 RBI in an eight-game stretch since 1960.

Led by Ozuna, the Braves have a major league-leading 54 extra-base hits in 12 games since Aug. 26. Atlanta has homered in 12 consecutive games, and in the last 10 seasons it has only had one longer streak - homering in 16 straight games between June 14-30 last year.

The Marlins scored a pair of first-inning runs in Sunday's 5-4, 10-inning loss to the Rays - their first runs in the first inning since August 17, ending an 18-game stretch without a first-inning run. Since August 18, Miami's .437 first-inning OPS is second worst in MLB, beating out only Texas' .430.

Starling Marte put the Marlins on the scoreboard in the first inning Sunday with a two-run homer. Marte is batting .447 in the seventh inning of later, compared to .255 in innings 1-6. That difference of .192 from the seventh inning or later to the first six innings is the second largest by a batting qualifier behind the White Sox's Yasmani Grandal at .197 (seventh inning or later better).

Marlins take aim at Braves in battle of touted youngsters

ATLANTA (AP)  Sixto Sanchez is helping the Miami Marlins match up with the Braves, even in Atlanta.
Sanchez combined with four relievers on a four-hitter, Jorge Alfaro hit one of three homers for Miami and the Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves 8-0 on Tuesday night.
