The Braves took two of three from the Marlins in Miami in the first series of the season from August 14-16, and have won 15 of the last 17 matchups in Atlanta. The Braves, who also won 15 of 17 over the Marlins at home between 2004-06, haven't recorded 16 wins in an 18-game home stretch against a team since 1997-2000 against the Mets.

Among batting qualifiers, Dansby Swanson is hitting an MLB-best .394 (39-for-99) in his first plate appearance against a pitcher in a game. His second time facing a pitcher in a game, his average drops to .150 (6-for-40).

Marcell Ozuna has a slash line of .485/.553/1.061 in his last eight games, with five home runs, four doubles and 15 RBI. He joins Chipper Jones from April 13-20, 1998, and Dale Murphy from April 11-19, 1985, as the only Braves to collect at least five homers, four doubles and 15 RBI in an eight-game stretch since 1960.

Led by Ozuna, the Braves have a major league-leading 54 extra-base hits in 12 games since Aug. 26. Atlanta has homered in 12 consecutive games, and in the last 10 seasons it has only had one longer streak - homering in 16 straight games between June 14-30 last year.

The Marlins scored a pair of first-inning runs in Sunday's 5-4, 10-inning loss to the Rays - their first runs in the first inning since August 17, ending an 18-game stretch without a first-inning run. Since August 18, Miami's .437 first-inning OPS is second worst in MLB, beating out only Texas' .430.

Starling Marte put the Marlins on the scoreboard in the first inning Sunday with a two-run homer. Marte is batting .447 in the seventh inning of later, compared to .255 in innings 1-6. That difference of .192 from the seventh inning or later to the first six innings is the second largest by a batting qualifier behind the White Sox's Yasmani Grandal at .197 (seventh inning or later better).

Miami's Jose Urena will make his season debut when the Marlins (17-18) open a three-game series in Atlanta (24-16) on Monday. And the first guy he likely will face is Ronald Acuna Jr., a pitcher-hitter rematch certain to stir memories of an incident between the two that resurfaces whenever the teams meet.
On Aug. 15, 2018, then-rookie Acuna had led off three straight games with homers and had gone deep five games in a row. Urena threw the first pitch inside and hit Acuna on the left elbow, setting off a melee that led to the ejection of Urena and Braves manager Brian Snitker.

ATLANTA (AP)  Miguel Rojas had four hits, including a go-ahead double in the 10th inning, and the Miami Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves 5-4 on Monday.
Pinch-hitter Adam Duvall led off the ninth with a tying homer off Brandon Kintzler (2-3), the closer's second blown save in 11 chances. Atlanta loaded the bases on Dansby Swanson's double and a pair of intentional walks before Travis d'Arnaud grounded into an inning-ending double play.
