 The Marlins are 14-7 on the road this season, tied with the Indians, Rays and White Sox for the second-best record in baseball (Dodgers, 15-5). Of those 14 road wins, five have been decided by one run, tied with the Brewers and Blue Jays for the most such wins in MLB.

 Tampa Bay is 20-5 since August 8, best record in MLB, and return home after a 5-1 road trip that included a three-game sweep against the Marlins. The Rays are averaging 5.7 runs and hitting .261 on the road this season compared to 4.5 runs and just a .223 average at home.

 The Rays swept the Marlins last week, shutting them out twice as Miami went from a team above .500 to a team below. Tampa Bay is 19-8 against teams at .500 or better, best record and the most such wins by any team in MLB.

 Starling Marte went 3-for-8 with a home run in his first two games in a Marlins uniform. Marte, who is hitting .353 against left-handed pitching this season, joins a Miami team that is hitting a combined .227 against southpaws.

 Mike Brosseau had his second-career multi-homer game on Wednesday, homering twice against the Yankees. It raised his slugging percentage to .692 on the season, third best in MLB (minimum 50 plate appearances) behind Juan Soto (.758) and Aaron Judge (.738).

 Tampa Bay's starters have allowed two or fewer earned runs in 11 consecutive games, the longest active streak in baseball. The starters have posted a combined 1.78 ERA in that time, lowest by any team since August 22.

The top spot in the Tampa Bay Rays' rotation has been an open space and rather undefinable most of this season, but Blake Snell looks like he's intent on claiming it.
The 2018 American League Cy Young Award winner, Snell (3-0, 3.14 ERA) has continued to pitch better as his pitch-count has increased. The Rays, owners of the AL's best record at 27-12, would love to see the left-hander be at peak form down the stretch and into the postseason.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP)  Sandy Alcantara allowed one run over six innings, Corey Dickerson homered for the second consecutive game and the Miami Marlins beat the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays 7-3 on Saturday night.
The Marlins improved to 15-8 away from home and are looking to finish the season with a winning road record for the first time since 2009 (44-37). Miami had lost nine in a row to the Rays.
