 The Cardinals are back at .500 again, dropping their series finale against the Reds after winning three in a row. St. Louis has been at .500 10 different times this season, most by any team in MLB.

 Yesterday's loss to the Pirates snapped a 10-game streak of the Cubs hitting at least one home run. In their last 20 games, 49.5 percent of their runs have come via the home run -- they accounted for just 38.4 percent of the team's runs in their first 17 games.

 The Cardinals and Cubs have a five-game series through Monday with a doubleheader on Saturday. They played five games from August 17-19, as a previous series was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. It is the first time this historic matchup has had two five-game series in a season since 1929.
