 The Astros have won at least 70 percent of their September games each of the past three years. Their 60-20 (.750) record in September since 2017 is the best by any MLB team in any month over that span (April to September).

 The Rangers' 12-21 record is their worst through 33 games in a season since also being 12-21 in 2001. They've lost 12 of their last 14 games, including six in a row on the road.

There were bound to be repercussions for the Houston Astros following an unusual stretch of postponements during a homestand that featured fits and spurts and plenty of uncertainty.
The Astros (19-15) were ragged early and sloppy late in their 6-5, 10-inning loss to the Texas Rangers on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series that was to conclude a 10-game homestand.

Astros look to rediscover groove vs. Rangers

HOUSTON (AP)  Michael Brantley hit a two-run homer early to back up a strong start from rookie Cristian Javier and the Houston Astros held on for 2-1 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.
Brantley, who had a three-run shot in a loss on Tuesday night, connected off Kolby Allard (0-4) with one out in the first on his homer to the seats in right field to give the Astros an early lead.
