 Milwaukee has allowed the first run in five consecutive games, but the team is 3-2 in those games. The Brewers have allowed the first run in 18 games this season, most in MLB, going 8-10 in those games.

 At 4-17, this is Pittsburgh's second-worst start to a season in franchise history behind a 3-18 start in 1952. The Pirates are hitting .210 (.2104) as a team, their lowest through 21 games since that 1952 season (.2102).

 Milwaukee won the first series against Pittsburgh this season, taking two of the three games. Since last season, the Brewers are 17-5 against the Pirates, their second-best record against any opponent (5-1 against the Mets).

 Keston Hiura is 7-for-16 (.438) in his last four games with two home runs and five RBI. In his previous five games he went just 1-for-20 (.050) with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

 Chad Kuhl has a 1.72 ERA in his career against Milwaukee, second lowest by any active pitcher against the team (minimum 30 IP) behind Aroldis Chapman (0.66). He has allowed no runs and four hits while striking out 12 in a combined 10.2 innings in his last two outings against the Brewers.

 Josh Hader has yet to allow a hit in 27 batters faced this season. The last Brewer to open his season with a longer hitless streak was Mark Rogers in 2010 (32 batters). Hader has struck out at least one batter in all seven of his outings this season.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be going for a series sweep Sunday against visiting Milwaukee, which would be quite a feat for a club that entered Friday with four wins, total.
Pittsburgh won two games in a row for the first time all season by pasting the Brewers 12-5 Saturday.

Pirates aiming for rare series sweep vs. Brewers

PITTSBURGH (AP)  Gregory Polanco's two-run home run in the eighth inning lifted the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 5-4 victory on Sunday over the Milwaukee Brewers and a three-game series sweep.
Polanco connected off David Phelps (2-3) for his fourth homer of the season and finished 2 for 3 with a walk. It was Polanco's second two-hit game in as many days, lifting his batting average from .085 to .151.
