Arizona leads the majors with a .323 batting average since Aug. 9, and its 54 runs are tied with Oakland for second in MLB behind Tampa Bay's 60. When the A's and Diamondbacks last met in 2018, Oakland plated six runs to take two of three in the series.

The A's have won their last four games, and have plated at least seven runs in six of their last seven contests. They've clubbed 26 extra-base hits in their last four games, only the third time since the start of the 2013 season they've totaled at least 26 extra-base hits over a four-game span in a single season.

The A's beat the Giants 15-3 on Sunday after rallying from five down in the ninth to win Friday's opener and three down in the ninth to win Saturday. Oakland's .860 OPS in the seventh inning or later this season leads the majors while its 48 runs in that span rank second behind Arizona's 52 runs.

Frankie Montas is slated to start Tuesday, his first start since yielding two hits over seven shutout innings against the Astros on Aug. 8. He has permitted four runs and 14 hits through his first four starts, joining Sean Manaea in 2019, Scott Kazmir in 2015, Rich Harden in 2007 and Mike Norris in 1980 as the only A's pitchers in the live-ball era to allow 15 or fewer hits, five or fewer runs and pitch more than 20 innings in their first four starts of a season.

Eduardo Escobar hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning of Arizona's 5-4 win over San Diego on Sunday to give him 11 RBI on the season. The Diamondbacks and the A's are two of the five teams in baseball to have at least six players with 10 or more RBI.

Matt Olsen has 15 hits, 17 walks, 16 RBI and eight homers this season -- the only player in MLB with at least 15 hits, walks and RBI and at least eight home runs. He joins Chris Carter in 2012 and Jack Cust in 2007, as the only A's hitters since 2000 to reach those numbers through 22 games played.

PHOENIX (AP)  David Peralta's first two ugly hacks in his final at-bat gave little indication a clutch hit was coming.
Frustrated, the Diamondbacks' cleanup man talked to himself for a few seconds, moved up a little in the batter's box and got ready for swing number three. It wasn't much better, but it was good enough.
