 Kansas City swept a three-game series from the Twins last weekend -- the Royals' only series win this year, and the Twins' only series loss. Minnesota had a 14-5 edge in the series in 2019.

 Minnesota picked up a 12-2 win in Milwaukee on Wednesday, with a season-high 15 hits. The Twins are averaging 6.09 runs per game on the road this year (sixth in MLB), compared to 3.88 per game at home (23rd in MLB).

 The Royals have won five of their last six games after opening the season 3-10. They've averaged 6.50 runs with a .301 batting average over those six games, compared to 3.46 runs and a .233 average this season beforehand.

 Salvador Perez has hit safely in 10 straight games, his longest hit streak since a 10-gamer in June 2017. His .329 batting average for the season ranks sixth in the AL and first among MLB catchers.

 Ian Kennedy will make his first start of 2020 after appearing in eight games in relief. He's allowed nine runs (seven earned) and a whopping six homers in 8.0 innings. That matches the number of home runs he allowed in 65 career relief appearances entering 2020 (67.1 IP).

 An MLB-high five different Twins have at least four home runs this year, led by Eddie Rosario's six. Rosario had three homers and eight RBI in three games against Milwaukee this week, after totaling three homers and nine RBI in his first 15 games of 2020.

Right-hander Matt Wisler will make his first start of the season Monday night as the Minnesota Twins try to go for a series win against the Kansas City Royals in Minneapolis.
Wisler (0-1, 1.80 ERA) took the loss in relief against the host Royals on Aug. 7, giving up what proved to be a game-winning solo home run to Ryan McBroom in the sixth inning of a 3-2 loss. That was the only hit he allowed in 1 2/3 innings.

Twins going for series win against Royals

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)  Nelson Cruz homered twice, continuing his climb up the all-time leaderboard, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 4-1 on Monday night.
Devin Smeltzer (2-0) picked up the win in relief of opener Matt Wisler for Minnesota. Smeltzer allowed one hit in 2 2/3 innings while striking out three batters. The Twins won three of four games in the series after being swept by the Royals in Kansas City last week.
