 The Braves have won seven of their last 26 games against the Marlins dating back to May 19, 2018.  Miami has held its own when scoring at least five runs in those games (4--4), but Atlanta has a 22--3 record when limiting the Marlins to four or fewer runs.

 The Marlins posted a 14--11 win on Wednesday to gain a split of their two-game series with the Blue Jays at Sahlen Field in Buffalo.  Over the past five seasons (2015--19), Miami scored 14 or more runs in only two of its 407 road games (22--10 at Texas in 2017 and 16--0 at Milwaukee last season).

 Atlanta's starting pitchers have a 5.72 ERA this season. The only NL teams with higher ERAs by starters are Arizona (6.75) and St. Louis (5.84 in 5 games).  Braves starters finished only one of the last 29 seasons in the NL's bottom three (14th of 15 in 2016); they led the league in 11 straight seasons from 1992--2002.

 Kyle Wright is 0--5 with an 8.48 ERA in seven starts for Atlanta.  Only three other pitchers were winless with an ERA of 8.00 or higher in their first seven starts for the Braves: Rosy Ryan (1925), Dick Donovan (1950--52), and Jo-Jo Reyes (2007).  Donovan became a 5-time AL All-Star and the 1961 AL ERA leader.

 Ozzie Albies had 356 hits over the past two seasons, to rank 7th in the majors (tied with Mookie Betts).  Of the 10 players with at least 350 hits over 2018--19, only Albies (.159), J.D. Martinez (.232) and Francisco Lindor (.227) are currently batting below .250.

 Jesus Aguilar has hit as many home runs in 12 games this season (4 HR in 45 AB) as he hit in 52 games after the All-Star break in 2019 (4 HR in 127 AB).

In light of the Atlanta Braves' rotation issues, left-hander Max Fried is being viewed as the savior of the pitching staff.
Fried, who will face the host Miami Marlins on Saturday night, led all National League lefties in wins last year, going 17-8 with a 4.02 ERA.
