 The Cubs took two of three games from the Brewers in a season-opening series at Wrigley Field. Milwaukee had a 10-9 edge against Chicago last year, ending a run of five straight years (2014-18) in which the Cubs had won the season series.

 Chicago is an MLB-best 12-3 after a midweek two-game sweep of the Indians in Cleveland. It's the Cubs' best 15-game start since also being 12-3 in 1970. They haven't gone 13-3 or better through 16 games since 1907 (13-3).

 Milwaukee allowed season highs in runs and hits (15) in Wednesday's 12-2 home loss to the Twins. The Brewers are 2-6 with a 5.25 ERA at home this year, compared to 5-3 with a 3.17 ERA on the road.

 After hitting .037 (1-for-27) with a .220 OPS in six July games, Christian Yelich is batting .300 (9-for-30) with a 1.181 OPS in nine games this month. Yelich's .327 batting average over the 2018 and '19 seasons combined was the best in the majors (minimum 750 PA).

 Over his last 10 games, Ian Happ is hitting .370 (10/27) with a .528 on-base percentage. He had two home runs and five RBI in last month's series against Milwaukee, his only two homers in 39 career games versus the Brewers.

 After allowing three runs in 4.0 innings in a no-decision versus Milwaukee on July 25, Yu Darvish has allowed one run over 13.0 innings in his last two starts combined. In five starts against the Brewers since joining Chicago in 2018, Darvish is 1-1 with a 1.73 ERA, 37 strikeouts and just four walks.

CHICAGO (AP)  Yu Darvish knew his pitch count was climbing, but he wasn't exactly showing signs of fatigue, either.
Darvish took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his third straight dominant start, and the major league-leading Chicago Cubs defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 on Thursday night.
