 Minnesota had its six-game win streak snapped with Thursday's 6-5 walkoff loss in Pittsburgh. Still, the Twins' 10-3 start ties the best record in franchise history through 13 games in a season, done most recently in 2001.

 The Twins have outscored their opponents 19-2 in the first inning of games this season. That's the most runs scored and the best run differential (+17) by any MLB team in any inning in 2020.

 The Royals had lost six in a row before Thursday's 13-2 win over the Cubs, in which they pounded out a season-high 18 hits. Kansas City is the only MLB team to score a dozen or more runs in multiple games this year (14-6 win over Tigers on July 27).

 Jakob Junis is looking for his first career win against Minnesota, having gone 0-1 in seven previous starts (4.28 ERA). He allowed two runs in 4.1 innings in his season debut on Sunday versus the White Sox, taking a no-decision in a 9-2 loss.

 Nelson Cruz had nine homers and 28 RBI in 16 games versus the Royals last season. That's the most RBI by a Twin against a single opponent in a season since Harmon Killebrew had 34 versus Oakland in 1969.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)  Hunter Dozier hit a two-run single in his first at-bat since testing positive for COVID-19, prized prospect Brady Singer earned his first major league win and the Kansas City Royals swept the Minnesota Twins 4-2 Sunday.
The Royals won their fourth in a row overall. The Twins lost all three at Kauffman Stadium and have dropped four straight.
