 The Padres took three of four games from Arizona in a season-opening series at home, outscoring the D-backs 21-9. San Diego's first seven series this year are against NL West teams; the Padres won't face a non-divisional opponent until a series at Texas on August 17-18.

 San Diego has a 3.29 ERA in home games this season, compared to a 6.40 ERA on the road. Since Petco Park opened in 2004, the Padres' 3.53 ERA is the third lowest in baseball, while their 4.61 road ERA over that span is the fifth highest.

 Arizona has picked up its first back-to-back wins of the season, taking two of three games in a midweek home series versus Houston. The D-backs hit four home runs in Wednesday's 14-5 victory, compared to just two total homers in their other 12 games this season.

 Going back to the start of last June, Ketel Marte's .359 batting average is easily the best in baseball (minimum 300 PA). He is coming off back-to-back three-hit games on Wednesday and Thursday versus Houston.

 After posting a 2.94 ERA in his first season with Arizona last year -- not allowing more than four earned runs in any of his 12 starts -- Luke Weaver has allowed six ER in each of his 2020 outings (including July 27 at San Diego), giving him a 14.73 ERA.

 Fernando Tatis Jr. has reached base safely in all 13 games this season (via H, BB or HBP). He's the only MLB player with at least four home runs and four stolen bases in 2020 (he has exactly four of each).

SAN DIEGO (AP)  Zach Davies retired the first 13 Arizona batters, Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a leadoff homer and rookies Jake Cronenworth and Edward Olivares also went deep to give the San Diego Padres a 3-0 win against the Diamondbacks on Friday night.
Davies took a perfect game into the fifth before giving up consecutive one-out singles to Eduardo Escobar and David Peralta. He got out of the jam by retiring the next two batters on popups.
